Montelupo’s old traditional ceramics and glass art has made the town famous over the centuries ever since the Middle Ages. Today many ceramic businesses still exist, and the Ceramic Museum and the Ceramics School display a large number of wonderful, valuable works of art. In the small medieval streets of the centre of Montelupo, as well as out of town, there are many family-run shops where you can find beautiful handcrafted ceramics and artistic glass works.
The Bobolino Neighbourhood
Bobolino is the most beautiful neighborhood in Montelupo. The inhabitants of the town have named it this after the Boboli Garden in Florence because it is an extremely elegant, pleasant and green neighborhood where you find most of the villas.
Bobolino is situated on a small hill above the town of Montelupo, which is only 1 Km away. From here you enjoy a wonderful view of the opposite side of the valley where the tiny village of Capraia and more olive groves, vineyards and woods are.
The Quarter is situated in the outer area of the town, in the middle of a lush countryside.
