Traditionelle Ferienhäuser auf einem bewirtschafteten Gut mit Falknerei und Kegelbahn, in unberührter Landschaft in den Tweedsmuir Hills zwischen Edingburgh und Glasgow, ideal für zahlreiche Aktivitäten in der Natur

Diese traditionellen, renovierten Ferienhäuser befinden sich auf einem bewirtschafteten Gut im Gebiet der Scottish Borders in den malerischen Tweedsmuir Hills. Das Anwesen liegt inmitten einer unberührten Landschaft mit sehr guten Möglichkeiten für Outdoor-Aktivitäten wie Wandern, Radfahren, Besuch von Sehenswürdigkeiten, Pirschgängen, Angeln und Falknerei. Die Flughäfen von Edinburgh und Glasgow sowie der Fährhafen von Newcastle sind leicht zu erreichen.

Um den gepflasterten Hof gruppieren sich außer den Ställen fünf gemütlich eingerichtete Ferienhäuser, die mit Sat.-TV, WLAN und Safe ausgestattet sind. Elektrische Heizung und Warmwasser wird durch ein eigenes Wasserkraftsystem bereit gestellt. Die Waschmaschine und der Trockner stehen in der Sattelkammer. Sie stehen allen Hausgästen kostenlos zur Verfügung.

Auf dem Anwesen gibt es eine automatische Kegelbahn, die für einen geselligen Abend gemietet werden kann. Des Weiteren stehen allen Gästen im Hof ein Picknicktisch und ein Grill zur Verfügung. Parkplätze sind auf dem komplett eingefriedeten Grundstück vorhanden.

Auf dem Anwesen befindet sich auch eine Falknerei.

Sechs Meilen sind es zum örtlichen Lebensmittelgeschäft und 15 Meilen zu zwei Supermärkten. Trotz der vermeintlichen Abgeschiedenheit inmitten der Natur ist die Lage immer noch zentral. Edinburgh mit einem vielfältigen Angebot an Sehenswürdigkeiten, Einkaufmöglichkeiten sowie der internationale Flughafen liegen nur eine knappe Autostunde entfernt. Das Umland bietet unbegrenzte Gelegenheiten für ausgedehnte Rad- und Wandertouren, Jagdmöglichkeiten, Falknerei sowie Angeln in idyllisch gelegenen Gewässern. Bekannte schottische Städte wie Edinburgh oder Glasgow, Marktflecken wie Peebles, Moffat und Biggar warten auf Ihren Besuch. Das „Traquair Haus“ (der älteste, ständig bewohnte Landsitz Schottlands), das „Abbotford Haus“ (Haus von Sir Walter Scott), den Hadrianswall und zahlreiche Abteien erreicht man in einer knappen Stunde mit dem Auto.

The Steading at Hearthstanes Estate - Manyleith Rig Cottage

Renovated traditional Steading cottage on a working hill farm in the Scottish Borders. Set in unspoiled countryside with great opportunities for hiking, sightseeing, stalking, fishing and falconry on the Estate itself. We are within easy reach of Edinburgh and Glasgow airports, as well as Newcastle ferry port.

Within the Steading courtyard this self-catering cottage contains a living-room with dining area, modern country kitchen with oven, stove, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. On the first floor there are two bedrooms and one bathroom. One bedroom has a double bed and the other bedroom two single beds. The bathroom has a bathtub with shower attachment, toilet and wash basin. In total about 90 square meters over the two floors. Electric heating and hot water is provided by our own hydro electric system.

The cobbled Steading courtyard is shared by five other cottages, stables and 9-pin automated bowling alley, which is available for hire. There is a free picnic table and BBQ within courtyard for all guests. The Steading is set within Hearthstanes Estate, a traditional Scottish hill farm with extensive woodland, its ideal for many outdoor activities.

Hearthstanes Estate offers hiking, biking, stalking, fishing and falconry opportunities. In the evenings there is an automated 9-pin bowling alley at the Steading.

We are within easy reach of Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Scottish Borders. Local market towns include Peebles, Moffat and Biggar. Traquair House (oldest continually inhabited house in Scotland), Abbotford House (home of Sir Walter Scott), Hadrian's Wall, and numerous Abbeys are less than an hours drive.

    “Huis is van een goed formaat. WC boven en badkamer zijn goed, de bedden zijn goed, wel jammer, dat er geen groot dekbed is. De inhoud van de keuken is ondermaats, pannen tekort en maar een deksel.
    Ook jammer dat, er buiten geen stoelen zijn met tafel. Verder zag het huisje er verzorgt uit, en licht en mooi.”

    We are glad that you enjoyed your stay.

    In all of our cottages there are 2 pillows and 1 single duvet per guest, so double beds have two single duvets, rather than one double duvet.

    All kitchens are equipped with stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, a wide assortment of pots, pans,dishes, cutting boards, utensils, cutlery, dishes, different styles of glasses, and many other items. As advertised in our Welcome Folder, if guests require additional specialty items, they just need to ask and we should be able to supply these free-of-charge from our stockroom.

    You stayed in a cottage that sleeps up to four (4) guests. The dining-table has four chairs and the living-room area has a double sofa, a sofa chair, a reclining chair and two ottermans..

    We are inspected and rated by VisitScotland. We pride ourselves in fulfilling our guests requests and making their stays as enjoyable as possible.

    Should we have the pleasure of your visit in the future, please do not hesitate to ask for any additional specialty items. We will try to accommodate you wishes.

    “Erg schoon, prachtig gelegen huisje. Huisje zeer goed uitgerust.
    Maar één klein min-puntje is dat de enige toilet boven is. Voor jongelui niet zo erg voor oudere (minder-valide) wat minder, maar ach ook weer goed voor de beweging!!
    Alleen jammer dat de wifi vaak niet werkt.
    Maar verder alleen complimenten. Gastheer en gastvrouw zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam.
    Heel prettig is ook het gebruik van wasmachine, droger en diepvries.”

Positiv: Peace and tranquillity Negativ: Arriving to discover that e-domizil had not transferred the money we had paid to the Management of the apartment !!!!!     “Zeer mooi vakantiehuis. Zeer ruim, heel proper, verzorgd en mooi ingericht. Alles aanwezig wat je nodig hebt. Zeer vriendelijke eigenaars, die altijd voor je klaar staan. Je krijgt ook veel info over de omgeving en wat je er allemaal kan doen.”
