Holiday homes in North Jutland – in the country between the seas
North Jutland extends from the mouth of the Limfjord in the North Sea to Denmark's northernmost point in Skagen, where the North Sea meets the Baltic Sea. The east side of North Jutland extends from there down to the Mariagerfjord. The Limfjord cuts through North Jutland from west to east and forms a 180-kilometre waterway. Depending on where your holiday home is situated in North Jutland, you can spend your holidays in a variety of landscapes: At long North Sea beaches with roaring surf and high dunes, at the gently sloping bathing beaches of the Baltic Sea, or in the middle of rural surroundings between meadows, fields and forests. Popular holiday resorts on the North Sea coast include, for example Blokhus and Nørre Vorupør, and Saeby and Hou on the Baltic Sea coast.
Places worth seeing in North Jutland
The largest city in North Jutland is Aalborg. The city on the south bank of the Limfjord (122,000 inhabitants) enchants visitors with a beautiful old quarter with historic buildings, a Gothic cathedral, the Aalborghus castle and some pedestrian areas with department stores, banks and boutiques. The street of Jomfru Ane Gade is regarded as the longest bar in Denmark: a good two dozen restaurants, music pubs and also a casino will tempt you here. It becomes very maritime as you head towards Frederikshavn at the Baltic Sea. The town is an important ferry port. Along with the ferries, there are naval ships, fishing boats and historic ships at anchor here. Those who spend their holidays in a holiday home on the west coast of North Jutland, should see Hirtshals. The town harbour is one of the most important fishing ports in Denmark, has the largest aquarium in northern Europe with the Nordsøen Oceanarium, and a lighthouse with a beautiful view of the Tannis bay.
