This spacious home is located in Reifferscheid in the Eifel. Arranged over three floors, where well-appointed rooms at your disposal. But outside, you can have fun, because here is an approximately 55 square meters terrace. Additional features of the house include shuffleboard, various games. Reifferscheid is a picturesque village situated on a mountain slope at the foot of the ruins of the castle. In many marked trails you can explore the beautiful landscape of the Eifel by bike or on foot. Interesting excursions can Oleftalpas and the wildlife park in Hellenthal be. Slightly larger towns in the area are Schleiden and Hellenthal. Here you will find many shops, restaurants and cafes. A tip for a day out is the experience at the Nürburgring (50 km), possibly in combination with the craft village of Adenau. Also a trip to the famous tourist resort of Monschau (25 km) with its streets where shops, restaurants and cafes are strung. If you do then you definitely visit the restaurant visit glasfabriek.Liefhebbers find their way into the nearby Hellenthal. There is one parking spot at the property. From the 1st of april untill the 31th of october you can park a second car in the streets (public parking).
You are not allowed to smoke in this property. Outside there is a designated area where you can smoke under the roof.
Reifferscheid
is a picturesque village that lies on a slope at the foot of the ruins of the castle.
From our holiday house you can simply walk straight up to this ancient walled castle, consisting of the castle ruins with stronghold walls. The first houses were built in the year 1106. After a walk through the small alleys with half-timbered houses and the climbing of the tower, which is still intact, you can enjoy a wide scenic view. In what once was the tithe barn you can have a nice drink in “Burgcafé Eulenspiegel”.
Yearly, on the castle grounds, the Knights’ Festival takes place in the third weekend of September and in the first weekend of December a Christmas Market is being held there. Events that attract people from far and near.
Castle Reifferscheid has won the gold medal in 1991 in the contest “the most beautiful village” and in 2008 it won the title “a village with prospects in Euskirchen”. Guided tours can be requested at the tourist information office of Hellenthal.
In the vicinity:
In Schleiden, at a ten-minute drive, there is a wonderful public pool with all facilities for children. The pool is located in the middle of a valley surrounded by woods.
Children but most certainly adults too can enjoy a visit to the wildlife park in Hellenthal (7 km). In the holiday season shows with birds of prey can be seen almost daily.
On many signposted routes you can explore the beautiful landscape of the Eifel by bike or on foot.
Interesting trips by bike or car may be the Oleftalpas and the hiking area “Vogelsang”.
Somewhat larger cities in the vicinity are Schleiden and Hellenthal. Here you will find many shops, restaurants and pubs.
If you want to take a day trip we recommend an iconic drive on the Nürburgring (50 km), which you can combine with a visit to the craft homes of Adenau.
As well as an excursion to the well-known touristic village Monschau (25 km) with its alleys where shops, restaurants and outdoor cafés are side by side. When you are there it is certainly worthwhile to visit the glass factory.
In Rescheid you can visit the old lead mine “Grube Wohlfahrt” (8 km). Daily guided tours are offered.
Skiing areas:
In the skiing area “Weiβer Stein” in Udenbreth (14 km) you can go skiing, cross-country skiing or practice toboggan.
In the skiing area in Hollerath (8 km) you can go cross-country skiing or toboggan.
Restaurants:
Restaurant lovers can go to the nearby Hellenthal (4 km) or somewhat further in Schleiden (8 km). Also in restaurant “Die Burgschänke” at castle Wildenburg (5 km) you can enjoy a very nice meal.
But in the village Reifferscheid there are also two restaurants, „Zur Kupferhart“ and „Zum Wappen“.
However, would you prefer to have your meal in the holiday house itself, the nearest supermarket is “Netto” in Blumenthal (3 km). Almost opposite you will find a bakery and a butcher’s shop. A few kilometers further, in the direction of Schleiden, you will find “Aldi”, “Lidl” and “Rewe” supermarkets.
