Eine Gemeinde an der südlichen Boddenküste unmittelbar gelegen am Nationalpark Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft zwischen Ribnitz-Damgarten und Barth, im Landkreis Nordvorpommern. Ihren Namen verdankt die Landschaft einer Kette flacher Wasserflächen, den Bodden. Zusammen verfügen die Darß-Zingster Boddengewässer über eine 135 Kilometer lange Boddenküste mit Buchten, Haken und Halbinseln. Die Geschichte der Gegend reicht ins 12. Jahrhundert zurück.
