Nice House in Arco Da Calheta with Private Parking and Mountain View

Casa da Pedra is a traditional Madeiran house in the village of Arco da Calheta. The locals reckon that Arco da Calheta has the best micro-climate of all! Ans it’s a quiet location. The house has two bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom. Downstairs is one big room which provides lounge, dining and kitchen areas. The walls are very thick stone – they are over 150 years old, part of the original cottage. This keeps the house cool in the summer, and warm in the winter. Outside there is a swimming pool and south-south-facing terrace. The pool is about 5 metres by 8 metres; the depth is about 1.5 metres, solar heated There are two bedrooms upstairs. Both open onto the balcony, which faces south, giving stunning views over the sea and surrounding mountains. The first bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and there is also a family bathroom. The shops are a short walk away. There is a garden below the swimming pool, with a wooden house (Casa da Madeira). If the owners are staying there, they may use the pool (don't worry, we are quite nice really!). You are welcome to pick fruit from the trees in the garden - these include, custard apples, passion fruit, and some young citrus trees. Pool refurbishment: The pool was refurbished in December 2008, so you will have an even better swimming experience! Previous guests may be pleased to learn that the parking area has been altered to make parking much easier. Because Madeira is a relatively small island a rented car makes the property a good base for sightseeing. Entertainment: Madalena do Mar restaurant is one of the best seafront restaurants in Madeira Island! As well Calheta beach restaurants are very good with restaurants, the Marina of Calheta beach, its sand golden beach, and the supermarket “Pingo Doce” for a big shopping or as well Ribeira Brava town with all services, shops, and supermarket “Continente”. The property provided a good base from which to tootle off and explore nearby villages and towns, walking during the day along Madeira's fantastic Levedas and whiling away the afternoons in the secluded garden sun trap surrounded by banana trees. It has aspect views of the sea and the mountain and is filled with sunshine for a morning cup of tea in bed! Only nature and relax!     “Ein Auto ist eigentlich ein Muss, sicher gibt es aber auch Taxis und einen Bus. Positiv: Die Terrassen, der Garten, der Pool und die sehr freundlichen Nachbarn. Negativ: Die Zufahrt ist recht abenteuerlich aber auch gut so eine schmale Strasse ist mal was anderes. Restaurant: Restaurant New Era ist am Strand - Sehr freundliche Bedienung das ist sehr gut. Uns hat neben dem Fischen auch das Menu. Laut Speisekarte "Fleischstücke mit Sause" sehr gemundet.
    War eigentlich ein Stroganoff die mittlere Grösse eignet sich für zwei Personen. Ausflüge: Pico Ruivo der höchste Berg - Vom dritthöchsten Berg mit dem Auto oder Taxi erreichbar.
    Der Höhenweg verbindet die höchsten Berge der Insel miteinander. Spektakuläre Aussichtspunkte machen die Tour zu einem unvergesslichem Erlebnis. Die anspruchsvolle Tour verläuft teils auf gepflasterten und gestuften Wegen, teils auf steinigen und erdigen Saumpfaden. Ausgesetzte Stellen sind zwar gesichert, trotzdem ist ein gewisses Maß an Schwindelfreiheit Voraussetzung. Für ihn und zurück benötigt mit einer Pause auf dem Gipfel gut 5 Stunden.”

    “Schöne AussichtDie Aussicht war sehr schon. Haus/Wohnung zweckmässig. Steile Strasse für Anfahrt oder zu Fuss. Es gibt noch eine Treppe vom Haus zum See. Parkieren war nicht ganz einfach. PP sind nur für Kleinwagen gedacht. Wir haben kein Riesen-PW aber einen normalen PW. Die PP in der EH wie auch aussen waren sehr eng. Es wurde bei der Zuteilung der PP nicht auf die Grösse des PW geschaut sondern vermutlich welcher PP gehört zu welcher Wohnung. Dies ist nicht ideal.”

    “Positiv: Sehr schönes Haus mit toller Aussicht auf das Meer Negativ: Die Küche war nicht sehr sauber(Geschirr, Besteck und Gläser)Wir mussten unser Geschirr zuerst abwaschen, da noch Essensreste darauf waren.In den Schränken fanden wir noch abgelaufenen und angegrauten Reibkäse.Auch die Küchenmaschinen z.Bsp. Kaffeemaschiene sollten regelmässig entkalkt werden.”

    “Ruhige, sonnige Lage mit schönem Meerblick. TV (Englische Programme) und Wlan. Positiv: Gute Lage mitten im Ort Negativ: relativ schwierige Zufahrt Beste Reisezeit: Ganzes Jahr Umgebung: Supermarket, restaurant - Keine Restaurants in der Umgebung. Minimart mit frischem Brot ca 5 Min zu Fuss entfernt Empfehlung: Families, couples, seniors - Grosszügiges Haus und schöner Pool”
