This rustic holiday house made of solid timber is near the popular skiing area Pyhätunturi and the picturesque Pyhäjoki river, in a forested natural paradise around the little village Vuostimo in the east of Finland. In winter it is an ideal place for snow sports and in summer perfect surroundings for fishing enthusiasts and those who like plenty of privacy and long walks in lush nature.Romantic timber house with a private sauna and , right by the river and surrounded by a pristine forest landscapes.
The wooden house with reliable electric heating was built in 1989 in a typical rustic and cosy Lapp style. It comprises a main floor and a mezzanine level with a light living and dining room, a fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms and two additional sleeping areas, a bathroom with toilet. The living room provides a comfortable sofa, a wide flatscreen TV, a stereo system and a dining table with chairs. The large, open fireplace built into the wall enhances the cosy atmosphere and exudes pleasant warmth on cooler evenings. Of the bedrooms next to it, one is furnished with a spread double bed (160 x 200cm), the other with a bunk bed (2 x 90 x 190cm). The kitchen is equipped with an electric hob, oven, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee machine. The water has drinking water quality. The bathroom is fitted with a shower , a washbasin with a wall mirror and a toilet. After a long day in nature, you can relax in the wood-fired in-house sauna with ample space for four people. A wide wooden ladder leads up to the mezzanine level and the two additional sleeping areas with two double mattresses (140 x 200cm). Bed linen and towels are provided, but must be ordered in advance and payed in advance, before the arrival to the hut. Plenty of firewood is provided and is included in the rental price.
Despite the idyllic, secluded location, you are not all alone. On the area there is other huts, in private use. A car is recommended during your stay and there are secure parking spaces on the extensive site. Cars can be rented in Rovamiemi or Kemijärvi. Make sure in winter that your car has a motor heater and a wire to plug it in ! Your pet is also welcome.
The owner lives nearby in the village and is happy to assist with any queries. He can provide a rowing boat for your own exclusive use, so you can go fishing in the nearby river. There are life jackets in the house. Tab water ist drinkable and high quality.
Your holiday house is only about 70 metres from the Pyhäjoki River, which has a wealth of trout, pike and whitefish. Note that a fishing permit is required and can be purchased at the nearby skiing centre Pyhä or Mr Juhani Korpela Jänkäkoira in Vuostimo. After about a kilometre the Pyhäjoki flows into the Kemijoki, Finland’s longest and widest river. It is about 13k to the nearest ski centre, Pyhätunturi, where you can find shops and a good range of cafes and restaurants. It is 30km to the Luostotunturi ski centre. There are various good cross-country skiing trails nearby. There is a bus stop about 300 metres away with regular connections to the ski centres. You should also visit the nearby reindeer and husky farms.
To direction of Kemijörvi about 20 kms there is a horse farm Outinen, where special finnhorses are well trained for many levels of riders, there is possible to make forest rides and wagon trips both summer and in winter time sledge tours.
