The Siljan region offers a range of trip options. Tomteland in Gesunda (near Mora), is where Father Christmas lives with his elves, trolls and other fabled beings of the north. In Leksand there is the crispbread factory and Sommarland, a special kind of leisure park. The Björn Park in Orsa is also nearby, as is the Nittsjö ceramics factory or Olssons Hemslöjd in Grannas, where the famous Dalarna horse originated. In the south of Lake Siljan there is the Naturum in Siljannäs. There is an exhibition about Sweden’s nature with a great view over the whole of Lake Siljan. A highlight is a visit to Dalhalla, an old quarry that serves as an open-air opera stage, owing to its acoustics. All of these places of interest are within Dalarna’s unique nature, with pristine forests, small lakes, wild streams and rivers. It is ideal for relaxing, hiking, skiing, gathering mushrooms or berries or simply doing nothing. It is also a true paradise for fishing enthusiasts.
